Interphase EDGE/x: Off and Running!

This summer, 90 rising MIT first-year students began their academic journeys through Interphase EDGE/x, the Office of Minority Education’s signature summer transition program. Over the course of eight weeks, scholars engage in intensive coursework in math, physics, and chemistry, while building lasting connections through mentorship, community programming, and collaborative learning.
Now in its 55th year, Interphase EDGE/x remains committed to academic excellence, equity, and student-centered support. This year’s cohort has already demonstrated remarkable energy and initiative—from engaging in late-night problem sets to organizing community meals, like a 4th of July carne asada dinner that fed nearly 100 students.
As the summer continues, the IP/x team and RFAs (Residential Facilitator Assistants) are hard at work creating meaningful, inclusive experiences that help students thrive both academically and socially. With support from staff, faculty, and peers, these scholars are gaining the skills—and confidence—they need to succeed at MIT and beyond.
