Celebrating National Transfer Student Week
The Undergraduate Advising Center’s Advising and Student Belonging team celebrated MIT’s transfer students at during National Transfer Student Week on October 21-25. As advocates of transfer students, we believe it’s essential to build awareness of the unique challenges experienced by our transfer student population (currently 79 students) as they transition to MIT.
Transfer students want to be welcomed and supported and to feel like they made the right decision to transfer to the Institute. To that end, the UAC kicked off the week with a transfer student themed weekly Hub with delicious donuts and notes of appreciation to one another. Appreciation Weekend, first of its kind, was a community-building event on a Boston Harbor historic cruise on perfect October day. On Sunday, October 27, we culminated the week’s celebration with a festive lunch on campus in which each transfer student received a complimentary jacket featuring the new transfer logo. We would like to offer our sincere gratitude to MindHandHeart for their generous grant that made this amazing opportunity possible.
