2019-20 Academic Calendar Changes
Whether you work with students, faculty, or staff, it is important to be aware of the changes to the Academic Calendar, which are already underway.
In years past, the Patriots’ Day student holiday has included both Monday and Tuesday. This year, students will only have Monday off. Drop Date is the following day — Tuesday, April 21 — and advisors should be available to approve drops.
The last day of spring classes is Tuesday, May 12. After a two-day reading period, final exams will begin on Friday, May 15. Reading period continues over the weekend and exams resume Monday through Wednesday of the following week. The final exam schedule is optimized to minimize direct exam conflicts for students and reduce the need for students to take more than one exam in a day.
Finally, this semester it will be more important than ever for instructors to abide by the grade deadlines. A failure to do so may result in students not being able to graduate in May. As always, the grading period is three weeks long. This term, it opens on Monday, May 4. The deadline for subjects without finals is Friday, May 15, and the deadline for subjects with finals is noon on Friday, May 22. Departmental grade meetings and degree meetings take place directly following Memorial Day.
The Doctoral Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 28 and Commencement will be held on Friday, May 29.
