OVC Staff Council Information

What are the goals of the OVC Staff Council?

  • Partner with OVC leadership to create a work culture in which all members of the OVC Community feel valued, supported, productive, and connected.

  • Working in partnership with OVC leadership, advance high-priority, evidence-based, staff-led initiatives.

  • Build on and broaden the work of the OVC Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (CDEI) to strengthen community and a sense of connection across OVC.

Who is eligible to serve on the Staff Council?

  • All OVC employees in good standing are eligible to apply.

  • Your direct supervisor’s approval is required. Please have a conversation with your supervisor about joining the Staff Council to make sure they are comfortable and to discuss how participation can help you advance your professional goals.

How will the Staff Council members be selected?

  • Nominations are submitted through this form and will be open until January 19.

  • OVC Headquarters will make final selections to reflect the diversity of OVC staff members, employment roles, and units. OVC HQ will also select Council co-chairs.

What are the expectations of Council members?

  • Council members are expected to serve one 2-year term, with the possibility of renewal for one additional year (to stagger terms and turnover).

  • The time commitment is roughly 3-5 hours per month, which involves meeting time and work outside of meetings. The exact meeting frequency is TBD, but most likely monthly to start.

What kinds of projects will the Council work on?

  • We will begin with projects that address two OVC priorities: new employee onboarding and community building.

I have more questions. Who can I ask?
