News from Student Veteran Support (SVS)
MIT Student Veteran Success (SVS) worked with Peter Hayes in the Registrar’s Office to identify MIT affiliated service members who died while serving in the military dating back to WWI through the Vietnam War. There were 18 profiles that were built based on research and information available, and these were displayed outside 5-133 during the month of May. There is a total of 389 names that are etched into the walls of Memorial Lobby (Lobby 10), but there are stories behind those names, and they should be told. This will be an ongoing project to build out more profiles to ensure that these individuals are recognized and their stories are shared.

MIT SVS also hosted the first Memorial Day service in May where volunteers read 390 names of fallen MIT affiliated service members and were joined by Vice Chancellor David Darmofal, who provided the keynote address. Thank you to Michael Fischer (Sloan Fellow), Nicollette Clifford (MIT HR), Lauren Fortier (Nuclear Engineering), Jen Lawrence (CARE Team), MIDN Ivy Brenner, and MIDN Kennedy Adkinson for their dedication and assistance in reading the names of these brave individuals.
